Step 1 Things you can do using NRPN
Drum setup parameters which can be edited using NRPN and data entry (CC#6) are given below. (Refer to the NRPN section within "MIDI specification" of the XG specification.)

1. Drum low pass filter cutoff frequency
2. Drum low pass filter resonance
3. Drum EG attack rate
4. Drum EG decay rate
5. Drum instrument pitch coarse
6. Drum instrument pitch fine
7. Drum instrument level
8. Drum instrument panpot
9. Drum instrument reverb send level
10. Drum instrument chorus send level
11. Drum instrument variation send level
12. Drum high pass filter cutoff frequency*
13. Drum EQ bass*
14. Drum EQ treble*
15. Drum EQ bass frequency*
16. Drum EQ treble frequency*

Of these, parameters 12 and following are marked with an "*" (asterisk), and are extension parameters of the XG format. At present, these are valid only for the upper-level models such as the MU90 and MU100; other models will ignore these parameters even if they are specified.

Now let's take a look at each parameter in more detail. The default value of each parameter will differ depending on the drum voice or instrument. Refer to "XG DRUM DEFAULT DATA" in the XG Specification. Also, depending on the voice, some parameters may have absolutely no effect on the sound even if they are modified; just be aware that this is how it is supposed to be.
